The fact that they are calling Russian drones "Shaheds" (which is BS ofc) makes ppl think these are actually Iranian drones, made in Iran. Sounds dumb ofc but when it comes to the imagination of chattering classes the dumbest explanation is usually true

I have to ask a) why no one foresaw that the inventors of the Shahed might not have given their entire stock of drones to Russia and b) why Western governments and investors were so slow to invest in and scale Ukrainian's drone and drone-defense companies.
(In reality, Russian drones are produced in Russia & are considerably different. In my humble opinion, Iranian choices are correct. They understand economy of scale *much* better than the Russians, who are sort of corrupted by the infinite money supply of Putin's era)
